The aim of the seminar ‘Sociology of the European Union’ is to discuss the influence of the EU on the European, as well as non-European societies. The seminar firstly will introduce the scope of the field and the self-presentation of the EU in terms of its impact on society. Topics of the second part will cover the most popular fields of the Sociology of the EU: identity, spatial mobility, European demos. Finally, the impact of the European Union on the societies would be presented in the specific fields of policies: gender and queer rights, human rights, ecology, international relations. The outcome of the policies is going to be discussed not only in the context of the European societies, but also non-European ones, to present the broader spectrum of the EU’s activity. Positioning of the European Union, like for example in the case of the ‘Green Europe’ will be critically contrasted with the particular outcome of this policies. Schließen
