This course explores the history of natural resource extraction in Canada, the United States, and the wider world since the late 19th century. Themes we will cover include the history of global commodity frontiers, transnational labor and business relations, indigenous concepts of rights to the land, questions of violence, migration, and legal conflicts, and the management of natural resources. Our focus will be on various resources ranging from fisheries through forests and mining to wind, water, and solar energy. Schließen
