Eric de Bruyn
Kommentar
This course is designed as a reading seminar. Each session will be devoted to the close reading of a classic or contemporary text in the history and theory of media. The purpose of the seminar is to become acquainted with formative and current debates in the overlapping field of art history and media studies with an emphasis on contemporary discussions of “algorithmic culture” and the “attention economy.” The seminar will also allow students to practice the writing of book reviews. A reading list will be drawn up in consultation with the participants in the seminar, but may include classical texts by Marshall McLuhan or Friedrich Kittler as well as more recent publications by Lousie Amoore, Ramon Amaro, James Bridle, Wendy Hui Kyong Chun, Alexander Galloway, Orit Halpern, Jacob Gaboury, and Rahul Muckerjee. Course languages: German and English. Schließen
