If you live in South Berlin or maybe even in the student residence at Halbauer Weg, the GeoCampus in Lankwitz might be the closest FU institution for you. But even if you don’t major in geosciences, there is lots to explore at this campus. For everyone in need of a quick and cheap meal, there is, of course, a student mensa that offers four main dishes on week days. It’s open from 8 a.m. to 2.30 p.m.
Moreover, the Lankwitz campus is a true centre for FU Unisport courses, with four areas dedicated to different sports: the FU-Dojo Lankwitz, the FU-Martial Arts Studio, the FU-Sporthalle Lankwitz and UniFit Lankwitz. In case it’s your first time booking a Unisport course in Lankwitz, the links provided above include a detailed site plan, so you can find the right building. The Martial Arts Studio is located in the basement of building H and you will find signs on the walls to lead the way. Once you reach the basement, you might be worried you got lost, but don’t be alarmed: You are on the right track, and if you just keep walking, you will find the Martial Arts Studio. So if you are eager to try out the UniFit Fitnessstudio, or sports like boxing, Jiu Jitsu or cricket, GeoCampus is the place to be!
But the unrivalled champion of GeoCampus locations is probably the geoscience library. Here you can find anything you would never expect at a university library! Right when you enter, you can grab sweets and free ear plugs at the counter. Snacks and tea are provided by the student body, and from 2pm you can even grab a coffee. A vast amount of couches and sofas is available throughput the whole library. Don’t forget to keep an eye out for stations where you can borrow a blanket, in case you want to take a nap! Our student ambassador Nini filmed a whole reel showing off the cozy ambience of this library. The atmosphere is much more reminiscent of public libraries and you will find yourself relax much easier than in other university libraries. And if that’s not enough for you, the library hosts Coffee Lectures on important topics like literature research.
The easiest way to reach GeoCampus is taking the bus X83 to the stop Emmichstraße. However, in typical Berlin fashion, if you are coming from Dahlem or Rathaus Steglitz, the bus will take a detour due to construction work until September 30 (at least). So definitely plan 10 minutes more for your journey.
