We support you in the teaching context with the following services
We are happy to procure and catalog electronic and printed media on your behalf, for example, to expand our textbook collections or to populate your course reserves. We gladly accept any suggestions for media that we can add to our collections, with requests from professors taking precedence over those from other library users.
Electronic resources such as e-journals, e-books, and databases are a particularly complex, cost-intensive, and relevant aspect of modern teaching. We offer support throughout the entire “life cycle” of electronic resources, provide information on media already included within our collections, and survey the market with you to explore feasible options, conclude (syndication) licensing agreements thanks to our know-how, and ensure that the electronic media you acquire can be accessed securely.
We address the use of generative AI tools as a cross-cutting issue from a variety of perspectives. Talk to us about the possibilities and problems of using generative AI tools in written assignments. We would also be happy to visit you in your courses to discuss with your students the critical use of large language models in accordance with the rules of good scientific practice or possible applications for writing practice.
With our offers on good scientific practice, we support you with training and counselling on plagiarism checking, the use of generative AI tools, etc. Book us for your events to talk to your students about issues of good scientific practice or to teach basic rules such as how to deal with sources and more.
Upon request we can visit you and your students in the classroom to provide introductions to researching academic literature, using databases, adhering to specific citation styles, managing bibliographic references, etc. We also provide personalized tours of individual Freie Universität Berlin libraries and archives and can cater these to entire classes.
