Your user account on the library portal Primo lists your requests for items, including hold requests, items ready for you to pick up, as well as items you have taken out on loan. Due fees, if applicable (for example overdue fines), and interlibrary loans requested or taken out by you are also detailed.
In order to see your user account and in order to request and reserve items or extend loan periods, you need to log in.

How to use the Library Login
FU Students and Freie Universität Staff with new user card
For logging in, Freie Universität students (Campuscard) and Freie Universität Staff (with new user cards via the ZEDAT Portal) use their FU-Account (formerly: ZEDAT-Account).

Freie Universität Staff and External Users With Library Account (issued in the libraries)
For logging in, the library card number serves as user number (Benutzernummer); the inital password (Passwort), as a rule, is your birth date in ddmmyy format + first letter of family name + exclamation mark.Please note: Letter case is relevant.

External users with an officially confirmed living address in Berlin or Brandenburg can take materials out on loan. Guests can use University Library materials in the Reading Room.
Charité Students and Charité Staff With Library Account

Freie Universität students and Freie Universität staff with user cards via the ZEDAT Portal, please turn to the ZEDAT user services with all password problems. Other users, please turn to the circulation desk at any Freie Universität library.
How to change your password or PIN
Freie Universität students and Freie Universität staff with user cards via the ZEDAT Portal log in with their FU-Account credentials; they can change their passwords themselves on ZEDAT-Portal.
All other users change their passwords themselves as part of the personal settings in Primo.
Your password must be at least 8 characters long, and it must be different from your user name. Also, frequently used passwords are not allowed.
Please note: A PIN is needed for authentication at self-checkout machines, such as those at the Campus Library. Users can change their own PINs as part of the personal settings in Primo. For recently opened accounts, PINs are initially identical with users' postal codes.
E-mail address
E-mail notifications to Freie Universität students and Freie Universität staff with user cards via the ZEDAT Portal are always sent to the official Freie Universität e-mail addresses. Redirections to preferred e-mail addresses can be defined in the account settings on ZEDAT-Portal.
