The Berlin University Alliance (BUA) is looking for motivated ambassadors who want to promote Open Science at their research institution! If you are passionate about Open Science and want to support your colleagues in implementing it in their daily research work, this program is for you.

What does an Open Science Ambassador do?

  • Train Your Peers! Organise events on Open Science topics and offer regular Open Science consultation hours.

  • Connect! Join a BUA-wide network of ambassadors to exchange best practices and encourage others to engage in Open Science.

  • Share Your Experiences! Report on your activities and experiences in a format of your choice (e.g., website, blog posts, public reports).

What does the program offer?

  • Participation in exclusive networking events and training sessions organised by the Center for Open and Responsible Research.

  • Funding of €4,000 for organising your own Open Science events.

  • Formal recognition as an Open Science expert at your faculty or department.

  • Active involvement in shaping the BUA’s vision for Open Science.

Who can apply? PhD candidates, postdocs, or professors with a contract until at least 31.07.2026 at a BUA partner institution are invited to apply. Prior experience in Open Science (e.g., Open Access, research data management, Open Software) is beneficial.

How to apply: Submit a one-page motivation letter and your CV by June 2, 2025, to open-science@berlin-university-alliance.de. Applications from tandems or small teams are also welcome! The program starts on August 1, 2025.
