Researchers from the Institute for Theater Studies at Freie Universität Berlin together with climate activists are organizing a reading marathon of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change’s (IPCC) sixth synthesis report in English.

It is almost guaranteed that 2024 will be the hottest year in recorded history and the first time that the global temperature will exceed the 1.5°C limit agreed upon in the Paris Agreement (https://climate.copernicus.eu/year-2024-set-end-warmest-record). The aim of the marathon reading is to draw attention to the urgency and importance of the latest scientific findings on the climate crisis. Students, staff and instructors at Freie Universität Berlin, as well as the general public are invited to attend and join in reading aloud. Titled “1.5 Degrees Is Dead” the reading will take place from November 26 to 28 from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in Freie Universität Berlin’s Silberlaube building.
