The research field Corporate Governance & Accountability in the Department of Business Administration examines the social responsibility of companies and other organisations. The Marketing and Ethics research focus in the Marketing Department at Freie Universität Berlin aims to integrate economic and ethical aspects of trade and to build corresponding competencies among all stakeholders involved. A research group at the School of Business & Economics focuses on innovation management, technology dynamics and technology management as well as innovation systems and policies.

Political economy

A research field of the department is also on finance. It examines whether and to what extent the state should intervene in economic processes and which economic policy instruments can be used to achieve a more appropriate distribution of the social product. Environmental economics, Economics of Well-being and Satisfaction Research are important topics here. In a very practical sense, it is about the unconditional basic income, for example.
