Under the leadership of the Sustainability & Energy Management Unit, since January 2019, usable office, IT, and laboratory equipment as well as furniture from the Freie Universität (FU) Berlin are offered, sought, shared, sold, and exchanged for FU members through FUndgrube. These items are no longer needed or used in university operations. FUndgrube closely collaborates with the furniture storage facility coordinated by the Technical Department, which also provides unused furniture for internal university reuse. In addition to positive environmental effects, this results in savings on disposal costs and a reduced need for new purchases.
