Integrated Management System
We control our goals and activities on the basis of an integrated management system.
The university’s integrated management system regulates procedures related to the environment as well as occupational health and safety. For the actual implementation, we use the Occupational Health and Environmental Protection Management System (AGU-Managementsystem), which was developed specifically for universities and public institutions. It includes all major stakeholders, responsibilities, and steps in the area of sustainability.
Tools such as forms, checklists, documents, and additional notes are directly integrated into the descriptions. For emergency situations, the management system is able to recommend the appropriate contact person and provide basic information to minimize the damage resulting from accidents.
EMAS Validation
As part of the management system, the environmental management is also externally certified through an audit according to the EMAS standard, one of Europe's leading standards in the field.
The core of our management system is continuous improvement. The aim is to continuously check the current status of occupational health and safety and environmental protection, to identify potential for improvement and to derive corrective and preventive measures.
The results are published annually in September in an environmental statement.
As early as 2004, an initial and gradual certification of individual departments according to the internationally valid ISO 14001 standard began. By 2013, the entire university was certified according to ISO 14001. Between 2013 and 2021, external certification was suspended in order to introduce the integrated management system AGUM.
