The work experience is accompanied by an internship colloquium of two hours each Friday (3 p.m. to 5 p.m.) which covers topics such as working life in Germany, personal organization, identifying one’s goals and expectations, communication and etiquette in the workplace, the German work ethic, hierarchies, cultural differences, etc. A written report about the experience is required at the end of the internship. Upon successful completion of all elements, students are awarded 12 ECTS credits that may be transferred back to their home institution. Please click here for the colloquium syllabus (pdf).
Instructor Internship Colloquium
Amanda Wichert has 15+ years of experience in adult and continuing education, and has taught at companies, universities, and institutions in the US and in Germany. A native of North Carolina and a graduate of Appalachian State University, she spent several years teaching and coaching students, educators, and refugees in the US before moving to Germany in 2008.
Since relocating to Berlin, Amanda has worked primarily as a trainer, instructor, and coach. She focuses on intercultural skills and communication as well as career-related topics and (digital) personal organization and excellence. She is an enthusiastic and engaged instructor and relies on interactive and participant-focused methods in her trainings. She leads trainings in English and in German.
