Event schedule

DRS Pro Transfer consists of five sessions, during which you will systematically develop your ideas and explore ways of successful market implementation. You will work in interdisciplinary teams. Attendance of all sessions is obligatory.

1. Entrepreneurs in academia and in business: idea generation

We will discuss the impact of research and ways of transferring it to the market, such as licensing a patent or creating products and services as spin-offs. Subsequently, we embark upon a one-week project, developing ideas in interdisciplinary teams. You’ll learn about methods of idea generation and idea development on the first day. The main focus will be on identifying the social and economic value of your research ideas and possible ways of transforming them into products or services.

Monday, 1 April 2019, 10:00 to 15:00, at Profund Innovation, Altensteinstraße 40, 14195 Berlin.

2. Implementing and financing ideas

How do you produce a business model? We will systematically deal with any issues that might occur in the process and analyse the market for your ideas. You will learn about different revenue models, i.e., how you make ends meet. In addition, you will gain an overview of the various ways of financing your project. In the end, you will have created a first financial plan for your project. Methods from business administration will help you to determine the viability of your concept right from the start.

Tuesday, 2 April 2019, 10:00 to 15:00, at Profund Innovation, Altensteinstraße 40, 14195 Berlin.

3. Developing ideas and producing prototypes

Testing initial ideas is hard, but important. Creating a minimal viable product will help you to do so. Together, we learn how to recognize and validate basic assumptions of your project, and ways to resolve them without sacrificing too much of your financial resources. We will apply different business methods such as lean startup and user-centered design.

Wednesday, 3 April 2019, 10:00 to 15:00, at Profund Innovation, Altensteinstraße 40, 14195 Berlin.

4. Protecting and defending ideas

Patents, copyrights and intellectual property (IP) rights protect you, your knowledge, and your projects. An expert from the field of R&D will introduce you to this topic. Based on practical examples, you will learn more about the most important corner stones of IP management.

Thursday, 4 April 2019, 10:00 to 15:00, at Profund Innovation, Altensteinstraße 40, 14195 Berlin.

5. Communicating ideas / Closing session

How do I convince others of my ideas and my project? From writing a business-plan, presenting your plan to investors (pitch training), to presenting your work in public – we will give you an overview about the most important ways of communicating your ideas.

Friday, 5 April 2019, 10:00 to 16:00, at Profund Innovation, Altensteinstraße 40, 14195 Berlin.
