Rainer Kampling represents Freie Universität Berlin on the board of directors of the Selma Stern Center for Jewish Studies Berlin-Brandenburg, of which he is a founding member. As professor of Catholic theology at Freie Universität Berlin, he has many decades of research and teaching expertise in Jewish-Christian relations and religiously motivated antisemitism. He currently coordinates the collaborative research project “Christliche Signaturen des zeitgenössischen Antisemitismus. Forschung, Analyse und Vermittlung” (“Christian Signatures of Contemporary Antisemitism: Research, Analysis, and Communication”) funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research.
As a contact person appointed by Freie Universität Berlin’s Executive Board, he is available for Jewish and non-Jewish students, researchers, lecturers, and employees. He offers confidential and, if desired, anonymous counselling for those affected by antisemitism as well as for those who have witnessed or been subject to antisemitic discrimination or acts taking place on campus, or who are uncertain about how to assess specific actions or statements. Anyone at Freie Universität Berlin with relevant information concerning suspected cases of antisemitism as well as incidents or discrimination motivated by antisemitism is encouraged to reach out to this contact person.
Each request will be treated individually on a case-by-case basis.
Furthermore, all contact requests are confidential (and upon request anonymous) in order to guarantee a safer space for everyone affected. Consultations are confidential.
A further responsibility of the contact person is to provide counsel to the Executive Board on questions related to combating antisemitism. To this end, he works in close cooperation with the Diversity and Antidiscrimination Office.

As liaison lecturers for the Network of Jewish Lecturers at Freie Universität Berlin, they are available to offer support regarding potentially antisemitic incidents and statements, as well as the promotion of Jewish life at and around Freie Universität Berlin.
