On November 7, 2019 Beatrice Gründler, professor of Arabic studies at Freie Universität Berlin and member of the board of directors of the DHC, was awarded the Berliner Wissenschaftspreis 2019 by the Governing Mayor of Berlin at the official ceremony in the Museum für Naturkunde Berlin.
