Information for Mentees
The Deutschlandstipendium Mentoring Program matches current scholarship recipients (mentees) with Freie Universität alumni who are working professionals (mentors). The nine-month program facilitates an exchange between mentor and mentee that helps students as they start to think about the transition from student life to the professional working world.
How can the mentoring program help me?
- Get advice and support in planning your studies and career path
- Develop concrete goals and strategies tailored specifically to you
- Identify your strengths and skills
- Learn about how the professional world is structured and organized
Who can participate?
Scholarship recipients from all degree programs who are in the second phase of their degree program. That means:
- Bachelor’s students in their third semester or above
- Master’s students in their first semester or above
- State exam students in the second half of their program
How do I apply?
The 2021/2022 mentoring program has already started. There is currently no call for applications. Information on the next mentoring program starting in 2022 will be published on this website.
- Completed application form
- Personal statement (no longer than one page) that explains how far along you are with your studies and what your current career plans are. You should also discuss why you want to participate in the mentoring program and the goals you hope to achieve.
How does the mentoring program work?
After you have submitted your application materials, we try to find you a suitable mentor. We will send you an email to notify you of the outcome of your application. Before you meet with your mentor, there is a mandatory orientation workshop to prepare you for the program.
The mentoring program runs for nine months. You as a mentee are responsible for initiating the first meeting with your mentor. After that, mentors and mentees decide how often they want to meet over the course of the nine-month program, but three meetings are the minimum.
