A Family-Friendly University
Freie Universität Berlin continues to demonstrate its commitment to making the university a place that is family friendly. It has maintained its certification as a “family-friendly” university since 2007 and even founded an association for families at the university in 2018.
The university’s family-friendly policy and structures aim to support its members in balancing the demands of family life with the demands of being a student and/or employee at the university.
Health and Motivation
Occupational Health Management at Freie Universität Berlin attends to concerns about promoting employee health and motivation. They focus on improving working conditions so that they are more ergonomic. They also help develop measures to boost morale at work.
The “FUndament Gesundheit” program is also designed to help improve and maintain employee health.
The Next Generation and Future Leaders
The Dahlem Research School provides advising services for doctoral students, whether they are in structured programs or completing individual doctoral research. The Berlin University Alliance supports people at all different stages of their careers from doctoral research to professorship through its “Promoting Talent” program.
The Berlin Leadership Academy helps prepare academics for leadership roles, whether they are experienced researchers or have just assumed their first managerial responsibilities. The university also has an online portal devoted to leadership development.
Some Impressive Figures
Freie Universität Berlin is one of the largest universities in Germany with over 30,000 bachelor’s and master’s students and over 3,000 doctoral students.
Over 400 professors teach and conduct research at our university in addition to over 4,000 other staff members.
The university also boasts around 120 apprentices who are receiving training in twelve different vocational areas, such as administration, media and information services, animal husbandry, landscaping, event management, and laboratory technical services.
