Liaison Office Eastern Europe extends network to Central Asia

The liaison office Eastern Europe attended events in Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan from the end of April until the beginning of May in order to advertise Freie Universität Berlin as a study and research location and to inform about the educational system in Germany and options to study with German as a second language. Cause of the journey were two regional days for German teachers at which German teachers from schools and universities met to exchange ideas and further their professional skills. The head of the liaison office, Tobias Stüdemann, offered informational seminars that achieved high numbers of attendance. German teachers as a first point of contact are important assets for Freie Universität.

 

The trip was also used to visit the American University of Central Asia in Bishkek, a partner university with an Erasmus+ exchange agreement, and other universities like the Bishkek State University and the University of Central Asia and the  National University of Tajikistan in Dushanbe. They also established contacts with the state archive in Dushanbe to support future research stays of researchers working at Freie Universität Berlin. At the location of the liaison office in Tbilissi, the journey concluded with visits to the Ilia State University and the Goethe Institute Georgia.
