With the start of the winter semester 2024/25, many international students began their exchange semester at Freie Universität Berlin. The FU is welcoming around 340 incoming students this winter through the Erasmus+ Study Europe program alone. In addition, there are students from all over the world who can study at the FU through the direct exchange program or Erasmus Worldwide. During the orientation days on October 1 and 2, they received important information for their stay and were able to get to know not only their new surroundings, but also each other better during a campus tour.
In addition to the official welcome program, the Student Mobility team offers excursions and events for exchange students to introduce them to Berlin and provide further networking opportunities. This year, the new students had the choice between a cruise on the Spree, guided tours of the Bundestag and Bundesrat, a quiz rally at the Festival ofLights and a trip to Treptower Park. The International Club also organized an “International Potluck”, where incoming students brought food from their home countries and were able to exchange ideas with FU students who had already completed an Erasmus stay.
