FUBiS Term III scholarship holder Tanushree Natani reflects on her experience and her time in Berlin

Aug 29, 2024

Participating in the FUBIS Term 3, 2024 program was a truly enriching and transformative experience. It provided me with invaluable insights into the life of an international student, allowing me to fully immerse myself in both the academic and cultural aspects of studying abroad.

I enrolled in the course 'Law, Society, and Politics in Comparative Perspective,' which offered a remarkable classroom environment. The diversity of the class added a richness to our discussions, making it fascinating to explore concepts from various perspectives. The course was complemented by several excursions that bridged the gap between theory and practice, enhancing the learning process and making it more impactful.

The FUBIS staff were instrumental in making the experience exceptional. They were consistently cooperative and friendly, always quick to address any questions or concerns, which greatly contributed to the supportive and positive environment.

Living in the student dorm was a highlight of my stay. Interacting with flatmates from different countries and learning about their cultures was incredibly enriching. Our shared travels and experiences created lasting friendships and memories that significantly enhanced my time abroad.

Berlin itself is a vibrant and diverse city with endless opportunities for exploration. Its unique architecture and rich history make it an outstanding destination for studying abroad. The city’s beautiful lakes offer peaceful spots to relax, and its food scene reflects its multicultural nature, featuring a variety of cuisines from Indian and Turkish to Thai and Japanese. The city also caters well to vegan and vegetarian diets, ensuring that everyone can enjoy delicious meals. One personal highlight was the ice cream, which quickly became a favorite treat during my stay.

Overall, experiencing cultural differences throughout the program has broadened my perspective and made me more open-minded. Traveling alone for the first time was a pivotal moment in my personal growth, making me more independent, careful, and confident. These skills and experiences will undoubtedly benefit me in the future.
