The topics of protecting international cooperation and research security have become increasingly important in recent years.  In Germany, too, there is a debate about how international research cooperation can be facilitated and at the same time secured in times of geopolitical shifts. In this context, questions repeatedly arise as to what universities and university alliances can achieve and what meaningful support structures for their researchers can look like without over-bureaucratizing international research cooperation.
