Forty early-career researchers from all 11 Una Europa parnter universities started yesterday for a week-long programme of the Una Europa One Health Summer School at Freie Universität Berlin. Participants will engage with experts and peers in an interactive environment, developing practical solutions to real-world problems under the title of “Bridging disciplines for One Health solutions”. The programme is designed to foster interdisciplinary collaboration and hands-on, project-based learning in order to address pressing challenges at the intersection of human, animal, and environmental health.

On Monday they were greeted by FU Berlin's Vice President for Research, Petra Knaus, and the summer school's academic coordinator Jürgen Zentek. The morning session also featured a keynote lecture by Bruno González Zorn from Universidad Complutense de Madrid, who is also chair of Una Europa's One Health focus area. In the afternoon, Thomas Mettenleiter introduced the participants to the development of the concept of "One Health". In the evening, Freie Universität's president Günter M. Ziegler welcomed all participants at a reception and wished all participants an inspiring week of workshops and stimulating dialogue.
