Researchers are invited to participate in one of six focus areas
News from Jan 03, 2023
Since 2019, Freie Universität Berlin has been part of the European university alliance Una Europa, together with the Università di Bologna, the University of Edinburgh, KU Leuven, Universidad Complutense de Madrid, Uniwersytet Jagielloński in Krakow, Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne, the University of Helsinki, Universiteit Leiden, University College Dublin, and the University of Zurich. Within this alliance, six thematic focus areas have been agreed upon as areas of intensive cooperation in research and teaching. Until autumn 2023, so-called "Self-Steering Committees" within Una Europa will draw up plans for the development of study programs and research projects, and, if necessary, for the provision of third-party funding within European funding programs.
In order to take into account our university-specific interests in the development of new cooperation formats, we hereby invite interested researchers to participate in these Self-Steering Committees. Some of the topics have been around for a while and are already the responsibility of professors at FU Berlin, others are new or have been slightly modified thematically. For all of them, we would like to involve more researchers!
Una Europa's focus areas are: Cultural Heritage, Data Science & AI, Europe and the World, Future Materials, One Health, and Sustainability and Climate Protection.
What does this mean specifically?
- You will be part of an internal working group at FU that brings together professional interests and structural options in about 1-3 working sessions.
- Up to 3 persons from this group can represent FU Berlin in the respective Self-Steering Committee and participate in working group meetings with the 10 partner universities. Here, joint work / action plans will be developed until the end of 2023.
- Finally, we hope that we will be able to implement some of our ideas together with our European partners. In order to achieve this, there will be seed funding and further support from FU Berlin or EU funding.
If we have piqued your interest, contact us via unaeuropa@zedat.fu-berlin.de, indicating the name of the respective focus area. We will then invite you to a working group meeting where we will present previous results and next steps. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact Marie-Julie Jacquemot: marie-julie.jacquemot@fu-berlin.de.
