What additional support is available for grantees with disabilities or chronic illnesses?

With an application for additional financial support for recipients with a disability or chronic illness, the additional financial requirements associated with mobility abroad are calculated individually.

Who can receive funding?
Additional funding for sponsorship recipients with a disability or chronic illness can be applied for if proof of a disability or chronic illness is available.

What can be applied for?
When submitting an application, only additional costs incurred abroad due to the impairment can be applied for or approved by the NA DAAD.

Funding within the framework of additional financial support is only granted if other bodies (e.g. integration offices, health insurance funds, regional associations, social welfare offices, student services) do not cover the costs. In order to be able to support as many recipients as possible equally and to ensure responsible use of public funds, the funding should be used as economically as possible.

The maximum amount per application for mobility of university staff is 15,000 euros.

How to apply?
The application for additional financial support is prepared together with the recipients; Freie Universität Berlin acts as the applicant.
The application must be accompanied by supporting documents and explanations of the need for the requested funds.
The application must be submitted to the NA DAAD for review at least two months before the start of the stay together with the supporting documents. The NA DAAD decides on approval on the basis of the documents submitted and the funds available.
