Funding organizations and scientific awards

A large portion of the university’s research activities is financed through external funding, including public grants, allocations, and subsidies and funding provided by private endowments and foundations and by the business sector, which together account for a considerable portion of the funding provided for research, alongside the basic funding provided by the government to all universities. The amount of external funding a university receives is one indicator of its success as a location of academic and scientific endeavor and of its overall performance and competitiveness.
