Berlin University Alliance Starts Next Grand Challenge
Students and Young People from Berlin Join Researchers in a Participatory Process to Identify Topics for Solving Global Challenges
News from Jul 04, 2022
The Berlin University Alliance is looking for topic proposals for its Next Grand Challenge to be submitted by October 31, 2022. The Grand Challenges are major global challenges of the 21st century that can best be addressed through interdisciplinary exchange that includes individuals outside the university. So far, the Berlin University Alliance has selected two topics as Grand Challenges: Social Cohesion and Global Health. Research projects devoted to these themes are currently at work.
For its third Grand Challenge the BUA is taking a participatory approach to include people outside the university in selecting the topic. Anyone who is interested is welcome to view the website www.bua-calling.de to find out how to submit topics and participate in the process of selecting the topic for the next Grand Challenge. At the beginning of 2023 a forum will be held where the participants can discuss the topic submissions together. Arguments will be developed that will serve as a basis for the BUA's decision as to which topic will be investigated in the third Grand Challenge.
