Call for Joint Research Collaboration – Funding for Initiatives with São Paulo and Chicago
The Berlin University Alliance (BUA), together with its international partners, announces two calls for joint research collaboration. The calls are designed to support new international partnerships, promote innovative research ideas, and strengthen long-term cooperation across disciplines with partners in Brazil and the United States.

Joint Research Collaboration with São Paulo, Brazil
BUA and the São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP) invite researchers to apply for seed funding projects and bilateral workshops. BUAresearchers can apply for up to €10,000 or €20,000€ per project for a period up to 24 months, while FAPESP will provide matching funding for the participating research groups in São Paulo.

Joint Research Collaboration with Chicago, USA
A second call supports innovative research collaborations between faculty members from Berlin and Chicago with the University of Chicago and Northwestern University. This initiative builds on the University of Chicago’s call launched in summer of 2025 and aims to prepare the ground for larger collaborative research ventures, but is also open for new research partnerships. PIs based at the Berlin University Alliance can apply for up to €22,500 per project.
