The Career Service offers workshops and lectures to help students prepare applications for interships or jobs, both in Germany and abroad, to train soft skills, get to know different fields of work, and talk with potential employers and human resources managers.

The Career Service offers modules in general professional skills (ABV) as part of the bachelor degree programs. These include modules in the competence area "personal and social-communicative skills" and events within the framework of the compulsory internship module. Working closely with the mentoring offices of the separate academic departments, and supported within the framework of the German government-funded project SUPPORT – Qualität für die Lehre, the Career Service of Freie Universität Berlin conducts the qualification process for prospective student mentors. The mentoring training is open to all students of Freie Universität. Successful completion can be recognized as a module in the general professional skills courses (ABV) required for bachelor degree programs. It is worth five credit points.
