Children's Dance Ensemble "Little Red Flowers"

Traditional Group from Nanjing to Perform at Freie Universität Berlin

On August 31 the children’s music and dance ensemble "Little Red Flowers" will present its new stage show at Freie Universität. Visitors can expect to be entertained with a varied program including dance, songs, and music. In their current European tour, the children, aged between six and twelve years old, will be presenting a mix of traditional folk and pop melodies, Chinese compositions, and classic songs from Germany and all over Europe. They will be accompanied by Chinese instruments. The show is suitable for children and adults, and there is no admission charge.

The Chinese instruments include percussion instruments and various varieties of the Chinese knee violin. One presentation will feature masks and roles from the Beijing Opera.

The "Little Red Flowers" ensemble from Nanjing was founded in 1957. Since then, it has become one of China's most famous children's ensembles, and it has performed in more than 40 countries and regions. The group consists of about 130 members. The children receive cultural and artistic training. Members of the ensemble design and organize all its stage performances.
