This introductory course offers an overview of Korean history from its mythical beginnings to modern times. Selected topics from Korea’s historical development are examined as examples, with the aim of giving students a sense of the essential aspects of Korea’s historical evolution. At the same time, the course emphasizes the placement of Korean history within both the East Asian and global historical contexts, taking into account the perspectives of various international and Korean historians. close
