In Seminar A, which is designed as a complementary course to the lecture, students acquire fundamental knowledge in key areas of general primary education. At the same time, they get introduced to academic work and become familiar with various content-related and methodological aspects.
They will engage with topics such as:
- Transition from kindergarten to primary school
- Early years of primary education
- Determinants of academic achievement
- Teaching and school quality
- School career transitions
- All-day primary school/ Extended Education
- Empirical primary education research, e.g. using the example of the IGLU study
- Integration and inclusion
- Professional and multiprofessional collaboration
- Cooperation between school and parents
Furthermore, students are introduced to the fundamentals of academic work. They learn what science is, how to read scientific texts, and how to cite correctly according to the guidelines of the German Psychological Society (DGPs). They also practice literature research, develop scientific questions, and learn how to work on them systematically. In addition, they are introduced to the structure and organization of academic papers and theses.
