At the Japanology book club we meet once a month to discuss Japanese literature spanning various genres. The books are voted on collectively and suggestions are always welcome. So far we have discussed “Lonely Castle in the Mirror” by Tsujimura Mizuki; “Trinity, Trinity, Trinity” by Kobayashi Erika; “The Night of Baba Yaga” by Otani Akira; “The Honjin Murders” by Yokomizo Seishi; “The Beast Warrior” by Uehashi Nahoko; “Night is Short, Walk on Girl” by Morimi Tomihiko; “The Last Children of Tokyo“ by Tawada Yoko; “The Forest Brims Over” by Ayase Maru; “Idol, Burning” by Usami Rin; “Before the Coffee Gets Cold” by Kawaguchi Toshikazu; “Nails and Eyes” by Fujino Kaori and more! As we focus on literature that has already been translated into English or German, participants from departments other than Japanology are very welcome to join!
