Research Ethics Workshop
Rosa Cordillera Castillo
Comments
Research ethics are integral to the entire process of knowledge production: from conceptualising and designing a research project and gathering, analysing, and managing data, to writing and other forms of representation and engagement. Research ethics not only provide a set of guidelines on research methodology and conduct; they are also integral to anthropology's epistemology and are deeply intertwined with power and the politics of knowledge production. As such, it is also necessary to reflect on one's positionality as part of ethical consciousness, discernment, and behavior. In this workshop, students working on their thesis will have the opportunity to develop their projects' ethicality through a mentorship and peer-to-peer feedback format. Each student will discuss the ethical issues of their research project and receive guidance on addressing these ethical issues. At the end of the workshop, students will be equipped to identify ethical issues of their research, reflect on how to address these issues, and make ethical choices. This workshop is open to students who are developing the research design of their thesis or who are already conducting their research. close
