Proseminar
Intersectionality and Identities of the Diaspora
Ramina Yachkaschi
Comments
Diasporic realities are complex and diverse as they can be based on ethnicity, religion, country of origin and other aspects. Within diasporic communities, the intersection of different identity markers plays a significant role in the creation of diasporic realities. This seminar will explore the diversity and intersectionality of diasporic identities, especially queer and feminist identities and their (transnational) struggles in the Global North and Global South. The goal is to better understand the nuanced realities of diasporic (queer feminist) communities, their relationship with their country of residence and country of origin, as well as the dynamics within their communities. This will allow to analyse the basic structures of political processes "from below", the intersectional struggles of diasporic identities and to get familiar with local and transnational social and political (queer feminist) actors. close
