Objectives: Students are able to independently plan a small research project, collect data, analyse the collected data, answer a scientific question they have posed themselves and present the results. The module qualifies students to independently analyse and present research results and prepares them for the Bachelor's thesis.
Contents: Using the example of a selected region (Greater Berlin), students work together to develop environmentally relevant questions and create suitable research designs. For Berlin's city trees, environmentally relevant information will be provided with the help of various spatial data, such as a tree cadastre data, multispectral data, aerial images and lidar data. In the seminar we will work on various advanced remote sensing techniques theoretically and practically. We will then apply this specialised methodological knowledge to the study area. In the field, primary and proxy data will be collected in a targeted manner and then analysed using suitable analysis methods. Finally, the results are evaluated and presented.
