Overview: This course introduces a basic intertemporal macroeconomics model and use it to explain empirical facts related to international monetary economics. By the end of this course, students will gain a foundational understanding of key concepts and methodologies within international economics. Topics covered will include the factors influencing the current account in small economies, the mechanisms of adjustment to economic shocks, the determinants of the real exchange rate, and the impact of fixed versus flexible exchange rates in models featuring nominal rigidities. Additionally, students will explore the interplay between monetary and fiscal policies.
Prerequisites: Completed the first-year courses in Macroeconomics and Microeconomics.

Textbooks and additional readings are recommended for students who wish to deepen their understanding. Lecture notes and problem sets provide sufficient preparation for the exam
