Qualification goals: Students will have a basic knowledge of the grammar and lexis of Hittite, in particular of Late Hittite, as well as of the cuneiform variants that are particularly relevant to Hittite. They are able to analyze simple texts in terms of writing, language and content. They will be familiar with the typological and structural characteristics of Hittite, the functioning of a complex word and syllabic script, the basic types of sources, the transmission situation and the history of research into Hittite transmission.
They have: Fundamentals of subject-related philological or linguistic methodological competence.
Contents: Students will acquire basic linguistic knowledge of a core language of the cuneiform tradition, Hittite. They will receive an introduction to the Hittite variant of cuneiform writing and the Hittite language, as well as the development of various simple text types.
