(Ü) Introduction to Akkadian

Qualification goals: The students have basic knowledge of the grammar and lexis of Akkadian, especially of the Old Babylonian period, as well as of the cuneiform variants that are particularly relevant for Akkadian. They are able to analyse simple texts in terms of writing, language and content. They will be familiar with the typological and structural characteristics of Akkadian, the functioning of a complex word and syllable script, the basic types of sources, the transmission situation and the history of research into Akkadian transmission.
You will have: the basics of subject-related philological and linguistic methodological skills.
Contents: Students acquire basic linguistic knowledge of a core language of cuneiform transmission, Akkadian. They receive an introduction to the Akkadian variant of cuneiform writing and the Akkadian language and learn how to write different simple text types. close
