Helge Wendt
Comments
The seminar deals with a rising field of research: environmental history. Various aspects of the “environment” will be dealt with: Climate, weather, land use, water, pollution, energy, perception of nature. Topics such as agriculture, raw material extraction, landscape transformation, urban development and animal use will play a role, as will long-term observations on the transformation of the relationship between human societies and the so-called natural environment. Historical sources and research literature will be linked so that students can get to know, try out and apply the basic techniques of historical practice. In this introductory course, different regional focuses are placed on Europe and the Americas, so that a planetary view of the topic can also be acquired. close
