Das Modul befasst sich mit epochenspezifischen Fragestellungen und Perspektiven und besteht aus zwei Seminaren zu zwei unterschiedlichen Epochen (Antike, Mittelalter, Frühe Neuzeit und Neueste Geschichte). Beide Seminare müssen ein gemeinsames Modulthema behandeln („Politik“, „Gesellschaft“ oder „Vorstellungswelt“) und in zwei Semestern belegt werden. Das Modul wird mit einer mündlichen Prüfung abgeschlossen (Ordnung von 2020; Studierende aus der BA-Ordnung von 2013 müssen eine Hausarbeit schreiben). In 1983 the first cases of AIDS in the federal republic were confirmed. Subsequently, the country was confronted for the first time in its history with a pandemic whose individual course was very likely to end in death. In addition, HIV/AIDS was associated with stigma from the very beginning. Based on the first descriptions in the USA, AIDS was associated with various groups. In particular, these were men who had sex with men, sex workers, drug users and people with haemophilia. HIV/AIDS was a defining issue of the 1980s. Not only was there an intense social and political struggle for the right way to deal with HIV/AIDS, but the debate about HIV/AIDS also transformed society in Germany. The seminar therefore focuses firstly on society in the Federal Republic of Germany in relation to AIDS. Discourses on sexuality, illness, drug use, normality and prevention will be examined. Secondly, the seminar deals with the transformations that took place in connection with HIV/AIDS. This includes emancipation movements (e.g. the gay movement) and their influence on discourses and social realities. close
