A webcam was installed in the nesting box at the Department of Veterinary Medicine in February 2024. The nesting box was adopted by a pair of kestrels shortly afterwards and 6 chicks hatched at the beginning of May. Anyone interested could have experienced the behavior of the birds. As part of the seminar, we want to investigate the behavior and in particular the development of the chicks with the veterinary students, conduct a brainstorming session and formulate questions on the basis of which the AI algorithms will be trained. The behavioral patterns and individual recognition features identified and quantified by the AI algorithms will be examined and evaluated together with the veterinary students. Based on this, possible suggestions for improvement will be identified and recommendations for falcon management will be made. In doing so, the students will gain important experience with the wild birds and the innovative digital AI techniques. close
