WiSe 24/25: Social Capital
Tetiana Kostiuchenko
Comments
The seminar covers various theoretical approaches for the definition of the ‘social capital’ concept. The course will compare approaches as suggested by Bourdieu, Putnam, Fukuyama and others, and the core part of the course suggests the perspective of identifying and measuring social capital as a network resource (as defined by Burt, Lin, Portes, and others). The concept of various types of ‘trust’ in relation to social capital is explored with the approaches developed by Cook and Hardin. Additionally, the seminar will include the overview of the major approaches in the evaluation of social capital, trust and resilience in the societies undergoing rapid transformation. close
