WiSe 24/25: The Affects of Climate Change
Stefanie Müller
Comments
The affective dimension of climate change is fast becoming central to the cultural discourse: how people feel about it, what emotions are invoked by the political rhetoric, what are ‘acceptable’ and ‘unacceptable’ feelings in response to climate change, and so on. This seminar takes a closer look at these aspects, with a focus on literature’s role in mediating and representing climate change and its (un)acceptable affects. We will try to cover the range from climate anxiety to (dark) humor, and we will discuss prose as well as poetry. close
