Lecture
L Current topics in Freshwater Ecology: Structure, Function and Dynamics
Franz Hölker, Lynn Govaert, Luc Alfons De Meester
Information for students
The students will gain a basic understanding of the physical and biological structure and functioning of aquatic and semi-terrestrial ecosystems including important theoretical concepts of the mechanisms driving aquatic communities and biodiversity. They will be able to critically analyse and present current research problems and publications. close
Comments
The lectures will focus on a basic understanding of freshwater ecosystems (i.e. lakes, rivers, riparian areas). These include spatio-temporal physico-chemical properties of water bodies, nutrient turnover, food web interactions, eco-evolutionary dynamics, and a range of biodiversity aspects. close
