Das Modul befasst sich mit epochenspezifischen Fragestellungen und Perspektiven und besteht aus zwei Seminaren zu zwei unterschiedlichen Epochen (Antike, Mittelalter, Frühe Neuzeit und Neueste Geschichte). Beide Seminare müssen ein gemeinsames Modulthema behandeln („Politik“, „Gesellschaft“ oder „Vorstellungswelt“) und in zwei Semestern belegt werden. Das Modul wird mit einer mündlichen Prüfung abgeschlossen (Ordnung von 2020; Studierende aus der BA-Ordnung von 2013 müssen eine Hausarbeit schreiben). Es dürfen nicht zwei Seminare in einem Semester belegt werden! Studierende, die im Sommersemester ihr erstes Seminar in diesem Modul besuchen müssen, können sich nicht über Campus Management anmelden. In diesem Fall schreiben Sie zunächst der dozierenden Person eine E-Mail (mit Angabe Ihrer Matrikelnummer) und lassen sich bestätigen, dass Sie das Seminar besuchen dürfen. Diese Information wird dann von der dozierenden Person an das Institutsbüro weitergegeben und von dort dem Studienbüro mitgeteilt. close

From 1524 onwards, the peasants, burghers and miners rose up against secular and clerical rule. The uprising started in Upper Swabia and spread from there like a "wildfire" (Moeller) throughout the empire. The uprising spread to Austria (Tyrol and Salzburg) and large parts of Germany and Switzerland (Zurich, Bern, Solothurn, Basel and Chur abbeys, St. Gallen). Only northern and western Germany remained unaffected by the uprisings. Contemporaries estimated that more than a hundred thousand rebels died in the battles. From the very beginning, interpretations of the Peasants' War were controversial and enormously diversified. This has not changed. To this day, the Peasants' War is one of the most controversial historiographical problems in German-speaking history, although hardly any other topic has been researched as intensively in historical scholarship as the Peasants' War. In this seminar, we will critically analyze the older and new research literature close to the source and discuss the reasons and causes for the uprisings. Willingness to read the sources and a general willingness to engage in discussion is expected. close
