This course will cover foundational issues in the philosophy of action and decision theory. We will address such questions as: What makes something an action rather than a mere happening? What distinguishes actions that are intentional from those that are accidental? Is there something epistemically special about our knowledge of our own intentional actions? What is the nature of intention? What makes a decision or an action rational? How should
the process of weighing reasons for action work? What options do we have in the face of
hard decisions? How can we choose for a future self that may be radically different?
