This methods seminar offers an introduction to the perspectives and methodologies employed in qualitative communication research, with a special emphasis on text analysis of news articles and social media materials. Throughout this course, you will learn about the differences between quantitative and qualitative research in communication studies, understand the characteristics and structure of various qualitative research methods —including but not limited to framing analysis and (critical) discourse analysis— and discover how to choose and apply one of these qualitative research methods to your topic of interest. close
