Die Einbeziehung von Wissensbeständen aus Film- und Medienarchiven ist für filmhistorische, filmtheoretische und filmanalytische Zugänge gleichermaßen relevant. Ausgehend von Positionen der New Film History, die die Forderung Wissensbestände aus Archiven einzubeziehen verbindet mit einer Kritik an werkzentrierten u. auf Autorschaft basierenden Filmhistoriografien, stehen Recherchen zu konkreten Fragestellungen und Materialien (Case Studies) im Mittelpunkt der Lehrveranstaltung. In den Case Studies widmen wir uns u.a. der Rubrik „Rest of Cast“ der Online Datenbank IMDb (Internet Movie Data Base), die in den Film Credits ungenannt gebliebene Mitwirkende eines Films nachträglich zugänglich macht. An vier Terminen des Semesters sind themenbezogene Gastvorträge geplant.

Die Kursmaterialien sind zu Semesterbeginn über Blackboard bzw. die FU-Videoplattform VBrick Rev zugänglich.
