Comments
Many rulers of Ancient West Asia made sure that texts were composed that reflected their view of the political history of their reign and often of the history of their predecessors as well. This resulted in a rich historiographical literature, of which the Neo-Assyrian royal inscriptions are the most notable examples. As everywhere, also in Ancient West Asia historiography took various forms, and different ways of narrating historical events developed there. close
