Nazan Maksudyan
Comments
In this seminar, we will focus on biographical sources and first-person narratives such as autobiographies, diaries, memoirs, letters and discuss how they are utilized, contextualized, and connected to construct global historical narratives. We will try to understand the specificities, benefits, and also limitations of this genre of sources (and methods) with reference to intersectionality, representativeness, and coherence. By focusing on historiographical and ethnographic approaches and methods concerning life story reconstructions, biographical methodologies, and several different types of first-person narratives, we will engage with methodological questions with regards to the writing of global history. close
